The village of Kovanice and its parish Church of St. Wenceslas are located on the left bank of the Elbe river, near road No. 38 between the towns of Nymburk and Poděbrady. Church of St. Wenceslas is commemorated in 1380. The church was originally Gothic, modified in the Baroque style, with an added tower and an extended nave from the end of the 19th century. Around the church is the original municipal cemetery, surrounded by a wall. A memorial tree stands next to the cemetery gate.
