On the road between Nový Hrady and České Velenice, close to the state border with Austria, lies the village of Vyšné. In 1920, the village was separated from Austria and annexed to Czechoslovakia. In the Middle Ages, the village was apparently large and rich. There used to be a brewery in the village, destroyed by Swedish soldiers during the Thirty Years' War.
