Valtice - castle gate
The main entrance to the castle grounds from the square is the gate (no. 2) designed by Antonín Ospel in 1724. The gate is reminiscent of the Triumphal Arch, which bears the crowned majestic coat of arms of the ruling family of princes from Liechtenstein. It is decorated with a pair of reliefs. The left relief draws attention to the fact that the glow and shine of the ring stone is identical to the content meaning of the family name (Licht – light, Stein – stone). The real relief then…
