In 1908, textile industrialists brothers Cyril and Josef Bartoňová from Dobenín bought a large estate and castle in Nové Město nad Metují, who invited architect Dušan Samuel Jurkovič, Pavel Janák and builder Otakar Nypl to repair the castle and its surroundings.
