Originally a settlement founded by woodworkers at the Schwarzenberg canal in the early 19th century.
Today it is the headquarters of the mountain service. Above the upper edge of the settlement is the tunnel portal to the canal. Today declared a technical monument. Above the settlement is an artificial lake called Medvědí.
