Defunct Romanesque monastery

The defunct Romanesque Benedictine monastery in Teplice
The monastery was founded between 1152-1167 as a subsidiary of the Benedictine convent at St. Jiří at Prague Castle by the wife of Vladislav II. Judith. During an archaeological survey in 1954-1957, her grave was discovered in the northern chapel.
The monastery was founded near the hot springs. Around the year 1200, the construction of the monastery basilica dedicated to the Virgin Mary was completed.…
