The baroque castle of Koloděje nad Lužnicí was originally a Renaissance fortress built in 1565 by Adam Čabelický from Soutice. Part of the fortress was a mill on the lower ground floor, in close proximity to which the Lužnice river flowed, which is why this part of the castle stands on oak piles.
