Volenice - Church of St. Peter and Paul.

The first mention of the village itself dates back to 1228, in which the village is listed as the property of the Benedictine monastery at St. George at Prague Castle. Apparently, a Romanesque church was built here before 1250 at the initiative of the order. However, only the portal on the south side and part of the masonry have survived from this time. During the Gothic reconstruction in the 14th century, the presbytery was exposed, which has been preserved to this day. Continued…
