Water reservoir Strž

The Strž water reservoir is located on the southern edge of Světnov, on the Stržské stream about 5 km north of Žďár nad Sázavou. The volume of the dam is 500.000 m3 and the flooded area is 24 ha. The height of the dam is 591 m. The reservoir is part of the Želivka water supply system. It was created in the years 1952-1954 by raising the dam of the original Strž pond in order to improve the flow and protect against high water. The reservoir and its surroundings are used for recreation and sport fishing. The Strž dam reservoir is richly stocked. Strž offers accommodation in the cottages and cottages shown below.
