The magnificent baroque architecture of the parish church adorned the western part of today's Masaryk Square in 1733. It was built and financed by Maxmilián Oldřich from Kounic-Rietberg. The building plans were taken care of by the Vlach architect Domenico Martinelli, who was active not only in Vienna, but also in Moravia, where he designed buildings for the noble families of Liechtenstein, Kounice and Harrach.
