The history of the church in Svoboda dates back to 1584, when a small Hussite church dedicated to St. Adalbert (Vojtěch). The current church was built on the site of the original dilapidated church, at the initiative of Prince Adam of Schwarzenberg, in the years 1777 - 79 and was newly dedicated to St. Jan Nepomucké.
