Svitavy – the old school on the square
According to the new education law, from 1869, in addition to general schools, burgher schools were also established in the cities. This was also the case in Svitavy, when a boys' school was opened in 1871, and a girls' school a year later. The city of Svitavy bought a one-story house with an arcade in the upper part of the square from Anna Tempesová for almost 15 gold. Rebuilding the house for school purposes cost an additional 20 guilders.
