Rožmberk and one of the oldest castles of the Vítkov family

The castle or, more precisely, two castles, the lower and the upper, located in Rožmberk, are among the oldest castles of the Vítkov family, who were the predecessors of the slightly better-known noble family of Rožmberk. It was built in the 13th century on an important trade route that led from Bohemia to the upper Danube.
