Reservoir in Josefov dola

The Jizera Mountains are, among other things, famous for a large number of dams in a relatively small area. The construction of dams practically started here at the end of the 19th century and mainly at the beginning of the 20th century. The reason was simple, during the regular spring thaw, flooded mountain streams and rivers caused catastrophic damage in the valleys. Dam reservoirs thus served to capture and regulate flood waters.
