The city of Ostrov can be characterized as a colorful mosaic of architectural styles from the late Romanesque style to the socialist realism of the 20th century. 
The oldest architectural monument is the church of St. Jacob the Greater. Originally a parish, late Romanesque from 1224 – 1226, it has been listed as a cemetery since the 16th century. The old town hall on Staré náměstí, originally a Gothic building, was after a fire in the 16th century…
