Charles Castle
In the woods between Hluboka nad Vltava and Purkarec, there are the ruins of the 14th-century Charles Castle. There are two ways to get to the castle. A longer walk along the cycle path (approx. 8km), or from Purkarec (approx. 2km). Ideally, in Hluboká, take the cruise ship, disembark in Purkarec and return to Hluboka via the path through Karlův hradek. The castle was built by Charles IV, but it was not inhabited for long.
