The village of Jívová with 530 (2005) inhabitants is located in Nízké Jeseník about 13 km east of Šternberk. It lies on the old trade route from Olomouc to Opava and Silesia. The train station is 4 km east of the village by the river Bystřice, on the line from Olomouc to Opava.
