The tragic event took place on August 24, 1944, during a US Air Force raid. In the morning at 7:30 a.m. that day, a formation of thirty-six aircraft of the 8th Air Force took off from the British Knettshall airport for the purpose of bombing the chemical plants in Záluží. Bomber B - 17G FLYING FORTRESS from the 563rd Bombardment Squadron of the 8th Air Force under the name "Belle from the Brawl" - "Troublesome beauty"...
