Bechyně - a bit of history
Today, Bechně is a small town with 5300 inhabitants, but it has a long past. According to legend, it was founded by the princess Libiše, who dedicated it to her priestess Bohyna, hence the name Bechyně. Archaeological finds prove that the local area was inhabited three and a half thousand years ago, at the end of the Early Bronze Age.
