The ruins of Lichnice Castle in the Iron Mountains

Lichnice or Lichtenburk is an interesting castle ruin in the Iron Mountains at an altitude of 480 meters near the town of Třemošnice. It is a magical landmark of the local area that can be seen from afar.

It was built on a rocky hill in the second half of the 13th century by Smil from Žitava, later called from Lichtenburg. The hill was called Světlice, and from there also probably the German name of Lichtenburk castle...
