Želiv Monastery
The monastery was founded together with the monastery church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary in the first half of the 12th century on a high promontory surrounded on two sides by the rivers Želivka and Trnava. Originally, the male Benedictine order was based here, but it was soon expelled and replaced by Premonstratensians. The well-known Hussite preacher Jan Želivský also came from their ranks.
