The village of Velké Hoštice is located 5 kilometers east of the city of Opava. The village was first mentioned in 1220. The village has a long and rich history, it is one of the oldest inhabited villages in the Hlučín Region. Among the main monuments of the village is the castle, originally built in the Baroque style on the site of an older castle from the 16th century built by the lords of Kravař.
