There are no surviving records of the beginnings of Jewish settlement in Velká Bukovina, it was probably established sometime during the 18th century. A small ghetto, the so-called Jewish Alley, was created in the village. It even housed a Synagogue, built in 1829, served until 1906, and was demolished in 1910.
