Velichov is a very old village founded in the 12th century. The first mention is from 1226 in the donation deed of King Otakar I.
In the years 1142 - 1336, the village of Velichov was a property of the Premonstratensian monastery in Doksany, later it was a fief of the Horní Hrad estate.
