Sněžek trigonometric point

The basic trigonometric point Sněžka was built on our highest mountain in 1824 with local stone and marked at a height of 1602m above sea level. The then Imperial and Royal Military Geographical Institute in Vienna took care of its first exact orientation. Apart from the Polish Chapel, it is the only original building on the snow. The point is still used by surveyors today after minor modifications and refinement of measurements.
