Svitavy - urban monument zone

In the 15th and 16th centuries, there were 83 registered houses, tightly enclosed in the shell of the medieval walls. It was built from cheap and easily available materials in the Middle Ages, wood and marl. After the first known fire of the city in 1590, the core of the city acquired a stone form in the spirit of the Renaissance. A century later, new Baroque houses with ornate facades were added.
