This Marian basilica is one of the main pilgrimage sites in the Czech Republic. The first Marian chapel stood in these places as early as 1260. In the 15th century. There used to be a small church with a tower and a bell, where the current statue of the Virgin Mary with the baby Jesus was worshipped. The first archbishop of Prague, Arnošt of Pardubice, was her first admirer. The statue of the Virgin Mary dates from 1348, it is dark, carved from pear wood. From…
