The birthplace of the world-famous astronomer, polar explorer, mountaineer, meteorologist and optician is located in the small village of Střemchoví, just above the village village, about 4 km northwest of the town of Tišnov. Doc. RNDr. Antonín Mrkos, CSc. (1918-1996) began his professional career in 1945 at the observatory at Skalnaté pleso in the High Tatras.
