The former Knötel mining district lay north above Krupka. It was the second most important district near Krupka. It has been mined here since the 14th century in dozens of smaller mines. In the 17th-19th centuries, larger mines and tunnels were excavated at Knötl. The deepest mines were 30-50 meters deep. A large number of remains of tunnels, pits and mounds have been preserved here.
