Babín pond

The pond called Babín is in the middle of the woods near Žďár nad Sázavou. The river Oslava rises in the bogs on its tributary. This pond is not intended for recreation and swimming, it belongs to the wetlands of the NATURA 2000 site. The site has earned protection for the preserved fragments of the bog with a stable population of the clear-spotted dragonfly (Leucorrhinia pectoralis). Peat was mined here until 1970.
