About 15 km south of České Budějovice, on the southern edge of the village of Římov, the flow of the Malše River was dammed by one of the youngest dams in South Bohemia.
The Římov Reservoir was put into use in 1977. Its main purpose was to create a reservoir of drinking water for nearby České Budějovice and for the group water supply of the central part of southern Bohemia.
