Police nad Metují - Merkur museum
The town of Police nad Metují is located in the Policke Highlands under the Broumovské walls, 14 kilometers north of the town of Náchod.
It was mentioned for the first time in 1213, when Přemysl Otakar I. donated it to the Břevnov monastery as a Újezd. It has been a town since 1254. In 1421, most of the inhabitants, supporters of the Hussites, fled from the Slezans to the nearby rocks of Ostaš, but they were killed there and the town was burned down. More destruction…
