The village of Podlažice, which is part of the city of Chrasti, is famous for its Benedictine monastery, which was founded around 1159 by Vladyka Vrbat and is the place where the largest manuscript book in the world, the Codex gigas - the Devil's Bible, was created. On the site of the monastery, which was destroyed by the Hussites in 1421, today stands the Church of St. Markets from the 17th century, known from the detective film directed by Jiří Strach The Devil's Trick.
