The Theodore Memorial Oak has successors

A narrow asphalt road leads from Svinčany to Choltice between orchards and fields. A few centuries ago, however, the landscape at the foot of the Iron Mountains was not farmed like it is today. An old massive oak tree, which stood on the right bank of the Svinčanka stream, remained a reminder of the primeval forests with impenetrable swamps and mudflats.
The oak was named Theodor by the locals after the popular Count Theodor Thun, whose family owned the Choltice...
