Monument to Josef Rosenauer

Josef Rosenauer (1735-1804) was an important and generous forester serving on the Schwarzenberg estate in South Bohemia. His greatest work was making the extensive Šumava forests on the slopes of Třístoličník, Plechý and Smrčina accessible by building a water canal, the so-called Schwarzenberg canal, which connected the Vltava basin with the Danube basin.
The monument is located in the valley of the Svitava river near the forest road.…
