Bedřichov monument and lookout tower
Nová Ves near Kolín entered the subconscious on June 18, 1757, when perhaps the most important battle of the Seven Years' War took place here, the Battle of Kolín. It was the first defeat of the Prussian king Friedrich II. by the army of the Habsburg Monarchy, which was led by Field Marshal Leopold Count Daun. On the nearby Bedřichov hill, the owner of the Kolín estate had a monument erected in 1841 commemorating this battle. To celebrate…
