The historical core of Opočna, together with the castle, is located on a high marl promontory above the Zlaté Potok valley. While walking through its ancient streets, behind Trčkový náměstí, a massive tower decorated with an onion-shaped chimney, which used to be the belfry of the neighboring parish church, later the cemetery, draws us towards it like a lighthouse.
