Pictures from Šumava – Church of Our Lady of Help from Hvězda in Železná Ruda

The Church of Our Lady of Help from the Star was built in 1729–32. The owner of the local manor, Count Wolf Jindřich Nothaf, was responsible for this. The building in the Baroque style is located on the floor plan of a six-pointed star. Unusually, the star is also located on top of a massive bulbous dome, the construction of which was carried out by the local carpenter Matyáš Lehner.
