Nové Město nad Metují – city fortifications

The city fortifications in Nové Město nad Metují in East Bohemia were created in the first third of the 16th century, when Jan Černčický from Kácov had it built. At that time, walls up to six meters high were built, which were gradually supplemented by five semicircular and cylindrical bastions with embrasures, a cylindrical Zázvorka tower, a pentagonal cannon bastion and a pair of city gates. Part of the fortification is still preserved in very good condition...
