The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary stands on Goethe Square. It was built on the site where the brick chapel of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary had stood since 1820. The church was built in the neo-Byzantine style in 1844-48. The church was consecrated by Abbot Heinl in 1848 and consecrated by Cardinal Archbishop Bedřich of Schwarzenberg in 1850.
