The first post-war waterworks, which created the largest artificial water area in what was then Czechoslovakia, were built on the upper reaches of the Vltava River near the Lipno timber settlement with the aim of utilizing the river's energy potential. The dam is located about 20 km south of Český Krumlov and 8 km west of Vyšší Brod. Two dam levels were gradually built in the Lipno area. Lipno I is the main dam, further downstream…
