The Labská gravity dam on the Elbe below Špindlerův Mlýn was built between 1910 and 1916. It was built as part of the program according to the laws of 1902 on the construction of a system of reservoirs and from 1903 on the implementation of river modifications and the establishment of protective reservoirs. The promulgation of these laws was necessitated by extensive damage following catastrophic floods in 1888, 1890 and 1897. The dam is the uppermost stage of the system…
