Rosa Coeli Monastery - Dolní Kounice

In Dolní Kounice, on the right bank of the river Jihlava, there are ruins of a Premonstratensian monastery. The monastery was founded in 1181 by William of Pulín, as penance for damaged property in Austria, as a result of his military incursions. In the years 1330–1390, the monastery was rebuilt in the Gothic style. During the Hussite Wars, the monastery was probably burned down, after which it fell into decline.
