In the places where today the Cathedral Church of St. Nicholas stands, has been a cemetery with a church since the founding of the city. It was around the second half of the 13th century. It was rebuilt between 1518 and 1535, but the sanctuary collapsed in 1551. It was newly built with the preservation of the presbytery.
