A fountain with a statue of a falconer has been standing on the Old Square in Sokolov since 1717, which is supposed to commemorate the legend about the town's founding. According to this legend, a falconer with a dog and a falcon is the founder of the city. This alleged burgher of Cheb is said to have founded Sokolí dvůr, from which Sokolov later arose.
