Jemnice - church of St. Jacob the Greater

It is located on the northwestern outskirts of the city in the former village of Podolí. The oldest part of the building is the cylindrical tower, a remnant of the rotunda from the beginning of the 12th century. It was discovered during archaeological research carried out at the end of the last century. Today it is considered one of the oldest buildings in Moravia. At the beginning of the 13th century, it was replaced by a late Romanesque nave with later Gothic modifications.…
