The first mention of the Jemnica fortifications dates back to 1237. In the second half of the 2th century, a double belt of stone walls was built here. In the 14th century and the first half of the 15th century, it was modified and supplemented with bastions and a barbican. To the greatest extent, the walls were preserved on the northern perimeter.
