It is located on the eastern edge of the town of Mikulov and is a continuation of the dominant limestone ledge of the Holy Hill. In the place of today's limestone quarry, there was still in the first half of the 20th century a prominent limestone hill called Janičuv kopec, Mariánský kopec, or Janitschberg in German.
