Ski resort Hochficht / Smrčina

A large ski resort on the Austrian side of the Šumava, comparable to alpine resorts. Comfortable transportation thanks to the new cabin cable car, three 4-seater cable cars and conveyor belts. Everything is regularly groomed and covered with artificial snow. 1km of track lit. To visit Hochficht for now (a cable car from the Czech side is planned) you absolutely need a car. From the Czech Republic, it is the closest via the former Zadní Zvonková/Schöneben border crossing, but the road is very narrow and there are often problems with passability in winter. The distance from Nová Peca at the upper end of Lipno is about 35 km. A better road here below Hochficht from the northwest through Germany; from the Czech border village of Strážný (on the Strakonice–Passau route) you can drive 40 km to Schwarzenberg.
