The town of Golčův Jeníkov can be found in the district of Havlíčkův Brod on the road I/38 leading from Kutná Hora to the southeast to Havlíčkův Brod. The first written mention of the place of Jeníkov is in the annals of the chronicler and abbot Jerloch, where he mentions Jeníkov in an event from 1150 or 1151.
